Personal Work
A KEEP IN CASE
Work: Illustration, Design, Videography, Photography.
Type: Self-Started.
A Keep In Case is my personal design account that I use as a secondary living portfolio for personal projects and as an amateur archive of advertisements which I dissect, analyse and display for others interested in older media. Through weekly projects which I set for myself, titled "Weaklies", I have pushed myself in directions of product design (collectable cards, cassette tape covers, pamphlets), poster design and short-form video content (see also: Channel 3603 on Youtube) which I have yet to be employed for. I mainly use this account as a way to develop my skills outside of freelance opportunities.

CASSETTE TAPE
COVER DESIGNS
Work: Illustration, Product + Graphic Design.
Type: Self-Started.
Starting in 2024 I have developed a keen interest in physical media through an unlikely medium: cassette tapes. As streaming services and pay-for-cloud services continue to dominate the media landscape, I have found myself more and more interested in creating my own mixtapes and physical copies of cherished songs, albums and artists.
To the right you will find a carousel of some of my favourite cassette tape covers I have designed over the past two years. These exist as both personal expressions of my taste and practices in branding and product design, with each cover fitting snugly into the genre and form factor of the cassette it folds around.
Feel free to rewind or fast-forward through a collection of my favourites.

The Golden Sunday
Work: Writing, Illustration, Design, Editing.
Type: Self-Started.
The Golden Sunday is a fully illustrated bi-weekly Instagram-based newspaper I established during April of my first year of study at UCT in 2022, after finding dissatisfaction with the opportunities for creative writing within the university itself. It has since been edited, managed and illustrated solely by me (under multiple pseudonyms to provide legitimacy and safety) for over two years. Whilst I do write for it, I am joined by a number of permanent university student writers, as well as a varied cast of freelance writers who will occasionally feature in special editions.
Focusing on "the unimportant", The Golden Sunday encourages writers and readers to find enjoyment in the everyday and personal aspects of life, making those things lose their mundanity. There has never been an attempt for the paper to be first to a scoop or even provide hard news at all, it has instead found a consistent audience in those who value comforting, unique styles of writing on seldom-seen topics.
As of 2026, The Golden Sunday has since been permanently ceased as I aim to move on to newer and less yellow things, but all of my work produced under it remains accessible and well-organised on social media.

Third House Poetry
Work: Illustration, Poster and Logo Design.
Type: Dedicated Freelance.
To the left you will find a slideshow of five select posters entirely created by me for Third House Poetry, a poetry organisation which currently hosts bi-monthly (twice monthly) open mic events in Cape Town. I have worked as a dedicated graphic designer for the organisation since September of 2022.
Third House Poetry is one of the fastest-growing and well-established consistent poetry organisations operating within Cape Town's city areas. With crowds often in excess of over 100 people, performance rosters of over 30 and collaborations with established poets such as Koleka Putuma, it has developed a notoriety within the Cape Town poetry scene. These posters are seen by hundreds.
I work closely with Kiva Farah, Third House Poetry's founder, on each poster and have also illustrated the logo for the organisation. I am currently working with her to develop a more fixed brand image and stylistic tone for the organisation as a whole.
Feel free to check in on Third House Poetry's socials using the button to the left.
FREELANCE POSTER DESIGNS
Work: Illustration, Graphic Design, Branding.
Type: Self-Employed.
Throughout 2025 I set out to firmly establish a firm group of clients within the Cape Town music scene and, looking back on the posters I designed by commission this past year, I can firmly say that has been achieved.
Ranging from punk bands to jazz nights, from screening invites to DJ extravangzas, from album launches to debate tourneys, I consider these to be my widest and best select pieces of recent client design work

Digital
Photography
Work: Photography, Photo Editing.
Type: Personal.
Whereas I largely worked on film-only before, I picked up a early -00's digital camera in the beginnings of 2024 and have since devoted much of my time using it to capturing local nightlife, streetgoers, music gigs and my unwilling friends. I'm no Jill Freedman, but I try my best.
All pictures taken on a Sony Mavica FD-75 with a fixed stock lens.

Justin keep's video store
Work: Videography, Video Editing.
Type: Self-Started.
Much like my design page functions as an ever-growing, ever-updating archive of my static visual work, so too do I utilise my YouTube as an progressive archive of my audio-visual endeavors. Whether posting travel documentaries, short video postcards from recent holidays, snippets from recent events, or music visualisers (all of my own direction), this channel serves to be an exciting and personal act of branding a particular videographic style to myself .
