POSTGRAD DOCUMENTARY
Date: 31 October 2025 (4th Year)
Title: A Different Kind of Time
The capstone piece of my honours year, this 15-minute documentary seeks to cover the South African contributions to the world of drone music: a long-form, experimental and resistant musical landscape spanning across the world and its history.
Ranging from jungle-like electrical instrument setups to the simple echoes of Khoi-san musical bows, drone music in South Africa has one of the longest and most diverse histories of practice. It made the making of this project quite a journey.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to festival submission, this doc is not available for public viewing as of yet. For now, this site will direct you to the dedicated Instagram page for the project, with trailers and snippets.
To dive into the long, weird world of drone music, direct your cursor to the title in the poster to your right.
UNDERGRAD DOCUMENTARY
Date: 26 October 2024 (3rd Year)
Title: Cape Jazz or Jazz from the Cape?
As the capstone to my undergrad studies, I was required to group up with three fellow students and create a 10-minute documentary on a topic of our choice. For us, that choice was Cape Jazz.
An entirely unique subgenre or jazz found and birthed only in the Western Cape, Cape Jazz equally suffers and benefits from a fixed identity and artist base, which naturally raises the question: what makes Cape Jazz 'Cape'?
To answer that question, have a click on the words' jazz' in the poster to the left, and be transported to the website devoted to this project.
Profile Feature Article
Date: 26 September 2023 (2nd year)
Title: Thrifting For The People: Disrupting An Industry
A feature-length magazine-style profile piece done on Tshivhase Tshivhase, a confident student self-starter looking to makes waves in Cape Town's thrift scene by emphasising inclusivity and accessibility while de-emphasising profit-making.
This project required the development of interviewing, background research, photography and graphic design skills, as well as testing the ability to market a piece towards a specific outlet.

Narrative Journalism piece
Date: 30 May 2025 (4th year)
Title: Here You Go, Mister Butler
A feature-length narrative/new journalism piece done on the delivery workforce of Butlers Pizza, a local and long-standing Cape Town delivery-only pizza business. With the increasing rise of food delivery services and its worrying implications, a view into how the work culture of a service predating even Mr. Delivery helps hammer home how desperate this employment state is getting.
This project required the development of interviewing, background research, narrative writing and perspective balancing skills, as well as testing the ability to deliver engaging but informative writing.

Media INTERN
ARTistic ARTICLEs
Date: October 2025 (4th year)
Title: Art Collection Articles
From August to October of 2025, I held an internship position underneath Nadja Daehnke, the Head Curator of the University of Cape Town's Works of Art Collection (WOAC). As a media intern, my job was the promotion, capturing and archiving of the collection for modern, student viewers.
One of my flagship projects was the writing, editing and designing of four articles to be published through UCT's student-run Varsity News and professional-bodied UCT News platforms. These articles feature interviews with Nadja, photography by myself, and detailed yet accessible examinations of artwork around campus.

Audio Documentary
Date: 23 October 2023 (2nd year) Title: The Invisible Two Wheels
A 5 minute audio documentary focusing on the issues surrounding bicycle commuting and infrastructure within Cape Town, primarily by looking at FixieFitSA; a community of cyclists working to normalise bicycles as a mode of transport and push the envelope for them to be seen as vehicles rather than nuisances on the roads of the Mother City.
This project required the development of audio editing and recording skills, as well as the finding of ways to create an immersive audio experience for a listener using atmospheric audio, interviews and narration.

Technical Photography
Date: 22 March 2024 (3rd year)
Title: Health Supplement Campaign
This brief-heavy assignment required us to capture client specified shots to simulate photography for a health supplement / energy drink company. This required us to mesh motion photography of active subjects and product photography into one package.
This project required the development of DSLR photography skills, specifically in capturing and freezing motion, whilst also asking us to pay closer attention to the setting and environments of our photographic subjects, best seen in the product photography.

Compositional Photography
Date: 01 March 2024 (3rd year)
Title: Our Streets
This assignment carried a more conceptual brief, asking us to go out and find unique perspectives on the city of Cape Town, capturing interesting moments and atmospheric compositions to seat the viewer in the cityscape.
This project required the development of similar DSLR camera skills, but this time focusing more on how to portray feeling through photography, rather than solely attract a viewer's eye.

Photo Essay
Date: 08 April 2024 (3rd year)
Title: Corner Business
This assignment required us to plan, conduct and design a fully-fledged print-ready photo essay on a topic of our choice. A narrative or a general atmosphere could be captured, and I elected for the latter using a series of film photographs documented the Coca-Cola Corporation's dominance over the small supermarkets of Cape Town.
This project required the development of narrative photographic planning, a skill until then unlearnt, whilst also requiring solid ideation and execution in both camera skills and design principles.

Short INFO-DOC
Date: 26 April 2024
Title: Who's Afraid Of The Big Red Boot?
This video required us to make a short-form informative Vox-style video on any topic of our choosing, with the only requirement being a minimum of 1 stop-motion animated segment. To separate this distinctly from other video assignments, I emphasised this animated element.
This project required the development of video editing skills, specifically in DaVinci Resolve, scripting and planning skills, design skills, as well as stop-motion animation skills, which I already had gathered from personal work with The Golden Sunday.

Motion Video
Date: 12 April 2024
Title: From Sheets To Streets
This video assignment required us to showcase our journey from home to campus each morning in just 1 minute, asking us to document a massive movement of time and place as quickly as possible.
This project required the development of video shooting and editing skills, specifically with planning and executing transitions, as well as skills in planning and pacing shots. Various degrees of motion, both sped up and slowed down, were required.
